Petey lied to his parents about going to play baseball and actually going to Hooverville to see Charlie. When Petey arrives he doesn’t see Charlie and ends up asking others where he is. He feels scared and lost when asking and they don’t reply to him. Petey feels relieved when he finally sees Charlie. But he also feels bad for him, sad he has to live in the place he does. When Charlie warns Petey to put his watch in his pants Petey feels awkward and not willing to do that, very stubborn. He end up putting his watch in his pocket, later to loose it to a bigger kid. When that happens Petey feels scared and intimidated by the kid, and also feels sad when loosing the watch.
When in Hooverville Petey sees trash around, and people with very shabby clothes on. When Charlie shows him his 'house' Petey sees a bunch of 'pictures' but its actually just pictures from calendars.
